AFC Bournemouth take on Fulham at Dean Court on Friday night, hoping to continue their good home record against the visitors. Andoni Iraola is sure to make changes from the Leeds United game after a disappointing performance – here is how I think the side will line up.

GK – DJORDJE PETROVIC

AFCB had Petrovic to thank for the fact they were in the game at all to claim a point last weekend, making some superb saves in both half. He would have saved Joe Rodon’s equaliser, too, had Antoine Semenyo not deflected it in. No doubt Petrovic remains in goal for this one.

RB – ALEX JIMENEZ

Jimenez needs to show much better discipline if he’s going to keep his place in the XI – his booking in the 11th minute last weekend meant he had to walk a tightrope for the rest of the match. The fact that Iraola entrusted him to play until the 75th minute with that yellow makes me believe he will start again, but if he finds himself in another situation against Fulham’s tricky wingers, he might be brought off sooner.

CBs – BAFODE DIAKITE AND MARCOS SENESI

FPL managers around the globe would have been delighted to see Senesi pop up with a 93rd minute assist last weekend, continuing his very strong start to the season. He and Diakite didn’t have their best game of the season against Leeds, but stayed physical throughout and looked to cause some issues on the ball. No doubt they will start again.

LB – ADRIEN TRUFFERT

It feels like I say the same thing about Truffert every week – the Leeds game represented another very solid display from our summer signing, with there no chance of him being dropped anytime soon, especially with Julio Soler now away at the U-20 World Cup.

DM (‘6’) – TYLER ADAMS

Adams did well in a very hostile atmosphere aimed towards him at Elland Road – dare I say no one in the ground would have been happier than him to see Eli Junior Kroupi’s volley find the back of the net. Likely one of the first names on the team sheet, Adams will undoubtedly start here before jetting off to the States for international duty soon after.

CM (‘8’) – ALEX SCOTT

Ryan Christie was given a chance to start at Leeds, with Alex Scott moving to the bench. That was always bound to happen at some point, given Christie’s quality, but he didn’t truly take his chance. Scott came on with David Brooks and Marcus Tavernier in the 60th minute, adding some drive and intensity into the team. Scott wasn’t the biggest difference maker, but looks to be in a much better rhythm than Christie at the moment, so I would expect him to take his place back.

AM (’10’) – MARCUS TAVERNIER

The same goes for Tavernier, who I expect to reclaim his place in the XI over Justin Kluivert. Like Christie, Kluivert was given a chance last Saturday, but also looks to be lacking that rhythm and sharpness. That’s to be expected, given both missed the majority of pre-season and have found minutes hard to come by so far. Tavernier has looked comfortable in the ’10’ so far this season and will likely come back into the team.

WINGERS – DAVID BROOKS AND ANTOINE SEMENYO

Brooks truly led by example as captain after coming on against Leeds – he was the main difference maker as the side fought back to claim a point. He was the one who added the impetus and looked most likely to create something out of nothing. I expect Andoni Iraola will find it very hard to drop Brooks again for the foreseeable, with his importance to the side clear. Antoine Semenyo scored an impressive fourth of the season with a hard hit free kick at Elland Road, but struggled to get involved in the second half. Still, he is one of the first names on the team sheet for a reason, plus he has been one of the best wingers, if not the best, in the Premier League this season.

ST – EVANILSON

AFCB simply have to get Evanilson involved more often, with it being another quiet outing for him last weekend. He works so hard, I don’t imagine he will be dropped anytime soon, but his teammates are not using him to the best of his ability. He scored at Craven Cottage against the visitors last season after James Hill finally found one of his many runs, with the Brazilian hoping for more of the same this time around.

MATCH PREVIEW

AFCB have won three in a row at Dean Court against Fulham since promotion back to the Premier League in 2022 – but by no means does that make this an easy game.

Marco Silva’s side were well on top in the first half against Aston Villa, and would have been disappointed not to have been ahead at the break. They were disappointing in the second half, leading to their second defeat of the season. Silva will have felt his side were robbed of a penalty in the first 45, with Matty Cash not penalised for the ball striking his arm in the area. In truth, Fulham have been very unlucky with VAR this season – had calls against Chelsea, Manchester United and Villa gone in their favour – which they likely should have – they would be in a much better position.

They are a side stacked with attacking talent, after adding Brazilian Kevin and AC Milan’s Samuel Chukweze on deadline day, with those players only making the bench at the moment. Silva’s side are always very well organised, and on the opposite end of the field have creative, strong players able to break down any defence. They are a quick transitional side who are a joy to watch when they get going.

Silva has confirmed that Kenny Tete and Rodrigo Muniz are unavailable, whilst a late call will be made on Raul Jimenez, who came off with a knock in the first half after scoring against Villa. If both Jimenez and Muniz are unavailable, Silva will have to decide whether to play Adama Traore or Chukweze in an unfamiliar position, or to hand a debut to 18 year old Jonah Kush-Asare, who came in from Bayern Munich on loan on deadline day.

AFCB have had the better of Fulham at Dean Court in recent years, but the visitors will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result last weekend. Should be a good one.
